Lena Ovchinnikova was born in Kadjerom (Komi, Russia) in 1985. Graduated from Ukhta State Technical University with a degree in Automated Information Systems. Qualified as a specialist in graphic design in the Moscow State University of Design and Technology. In 2014 and 2016, she studied documentary photography at Rodchenko Art School (Moscow). Since 2018, she has been studying contemporary photography at the School of Modern Photography Docdocdoc (Saint-Petersburg).
She is a finalist of the Blurring the Lines 2019, was included in the BTL Catalog. Her dummy “Stepmother” was present during Unseen Book Market 2019 on stand of FOTODOK.
Nominant of International Photography Grant 2019 in the category “Creative”.
Finalist of the Riaperture Photo Contest 2020.
Lena works predominantly in the medium of photography, combining documentary shots and constructed images. She is interested in death studies, medicalization of the body, family relationships.
Currently lives and works in Moscow.
